Free DJ preloads the next deck and uses an equal-power overlap so one track fades down while the next comes up. Free DJ keeps each source playing until its final transition window, so full-length authorised tracks play almost completely; the overlap automatically shortens for short provider previews. The current artist artwork and event card change at the centre of the mix.

Local audio files are processed only in your browser and are not uploaded by Free DJ. Free DJ prioritises full-length CC BY tracks from ccMixter and keeps the required attribution/source metadata; provider previews remain a fallback. Free DJ does not bypass preview limits. Public/commercial venue playback can involve additional local rights obligations, so D Music does not describe the catalogue as automatically SGAE-exempt.
